September Meeting: Legal Issues Affecting Appraisers

The September chapter meeting will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at at Pal's Cabin in West Orange, NJ. The Board Meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. followed by Networking at 6:30, and Dinner at 7:00. The guest speaker is Charles T. Rosoff, ASA, who will reprise his recent presentation to the National Bar Association on Legal Decisions & Legislation Affecting Appraisal Practice.

Charles Rosoff, ASACharles Rosoff is the President of Appraisal Services Associates of New York and Connecticut, and is a former ASA NY State Director, and a past President of the NYC Chapter. ASA-accredited in Fine Arts, his practice focuses on forensic valuations for dispute resolution and litigation. Charles got his B.A. in Art History from the University of Michigan, did postgraduate work at Sotheby's London, NYU, and Cooper-Hewitt, and taught Research Methods for Appraisers at NYU. He currently teaches the ASA PP204, Personal Property Valuation - The Legal and Commercial Environment at Northwestern University, the University of Georgia and Pratt. A frequent contributor to the ASA Personal Property Journal on legal issues, and admitted for expert testimony in several states, he has participated in seminars at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and created courses for ALI-ABA, the continuing education project of the American Law Institute & the American Bar Association. His insights and understanding will be helpful to every appraiser practicing in today's fast-changing legal environment.

The program qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit. The meeting will include a raffle of art books and CDs. Dinner is $30.
